Title: Purchase Manager

Location: Chandigarh University, Gharuan Mohali, Punjab

Job Summary:

The Purchase Manager will be responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement process for the university, including sourcing, vendor management, purchasing of technical and non-technical materials, and ensuring cost-effective and timely procurement.

The role requires strong technical understanding (Mechanical/Electrical) to handle procurement of engineering equipment, infrastructure materials, and campus requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement & Purchasing

Manage complete procurement cycle: requirement gathering, RFQs, vendor selection, and purchase order creation

Procure materials such as electrical equipment, mechanical systems, lab instruments, furniture, and services

Ensure timely delivery of goods and services

Vendor Management:

Identify and onboard reliable vendors and suppliers

Evaluate vendor performance based on cost, quality, and delivery timelines

Maintain long-term relationships with key suppliers

Cost Control & Negotiation:

Negotiate pricing, contracts, and payment terms with vendors

Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality

Monitor procurement budgets and expenses

Inventory & Coordination:

Work closely with stores and inventory teams to maintain optimal stock levels

Avoid shortages or overstocking

Coordinate with finance for billing and payments

Education:

B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Mandatory / Preferred)

MBA in Supply Chain / Operations (Preferred)
